Paul is the founder, visionary, co-owner and CEO of Plant Assessor, a digital risk assessment and machinery compliance software solution.
Prior to Plant Assessor, Paul spent 10 years working in the plumbing and construction industry, and 5 years in the machinery supply industry where he developed a deep knowledge about mobile plant and machinery compliance.
The seed for the Plant Assessor concept was planted back in 2002 when Paul was asked by a local council to help with the risk assessments required for its fleet. Paul was then inspired to invent Plant Assessor with one goal in mind, to provide a simple solution to a difficult obligation.
Paul’s understanding of Australian standards, regulations and legislation relating to machinery, safety and compliance is second to none, allowing him to develop the IP behind the Plant Assessor product, and a unique and innovative software solution which now has close to 40,000 users across Australia and New Zealand.
As Plant Assessor has grown, Paul has spent time in many different roles including Managing Director, Product Owner, Chief Technology Officer and IP Manager. He now focuses his energy on being a visionary for the company, driving its growth and intellectual property, as well as identifying opportunities and trends within the industry to help maintain Plant Assessor’s innovative status.
As co-owner since 2004, and Managing Director since 2008, Matt has overseen phenomenal growth at Plant Assessor.
This growth has arisen from building a high performing team and driving Plant Assessor's world leading and continually evolving software and services focused on helping machinery suppliers and owners manage compliance, efficiency and profitability.
Matt completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and Finance, has completed his Chartered Accountants qualification, as well as an MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management.
Prior to Plant Assessor, Matt gained extensive experience in general management of heavy industrial, manufacturing and distribution businesses.
Matt spent 8 years in Insolvency with Coopers and Lybrand/PricewaterhouseCoopers, then spent 4 years as General Manager of Industrial Galvanizers Corporation, and 4 years as Regional Manager at Onesteel Metaland.
It was during his time in the steel industry that Matt developed a deep understanding of workplace health and safety management and behavioural safety management.
Angus is the Chief Revenue Officer for Plant Assessor, taking on the role in 2022.
Prior to joining Plant Assessor, Angus has focused his career on general management across sales, marketing, financial and operational teams in technology focused industries including SaaS, IT managed services, telecomms and technical training. Angus completed his finance MBA in 2019.
Through a combination of data-driven decision-making, an ability to understand process deficiencies, and a keen understanding of how people think, Angus has a track record of multimillion-dollar gains and rapid operational turnarounds. He has a proven record of success in introducing new categories, implementing growth strategies, and revealing market demands to increase business revenue. Angus also has experience in managing performance-driven teams, identifying new opportunities, creating strategic sales tactics, and driving high-performance results across multiple channels and markets.
Matt is the Technical Content Manager for Plant Assessor, and is a machinery compliance expert, having spent his entire career in the industry.
Matt started his career as an apprentice landscaper before branching out into the civil construction industry, providing him with 13 years’ experience in civil, subdivision and infrastructure construction as well as mobile plant operation.
An opportunity to join the Plant Assessor team in 2011 saw Matt become a Field Officer, where he was responsible for inspecting and completing risk assessments on machinery. Matt’s time in this role saw him complete more than 15,000 risk assessments and become an integral part of the growth of the Professional Services team from just one person to a team that now consists of 11 machinery assessors.
His exposure to machinery from a young age and on the job experience in the construction industry has given Matt an exceptional ability to take technical documents such as Australian standards and legislation, interpret them and translate them into the IP that makes the Plant Assessor software unique.
Matt’s move into Plant Assessor’s Sales Manager role in 2019 saw him transform the sales team with his people management skills, implement a team accountability structure and successfully execute sales strategies. Matt proudly related to all of his clients, using his mobile plant and industry knowledge to provide them with unrivalled advice on machinery compliance and the Plant Assessor product.
2023 saw Matt take on the newly created role of Technical Content Director at Plant Assessor, utilising his unique experience and knowledge of the legislative requirements of machinery.
Along with his landscaping apprenticeship, Matt also holds qualifications in small business management, training and assessing, work health & safety and leadership management.
Jake Boulton is a highly experienced marketing professional with over eighteen years of experience working closely with high-performing teams to drive growth and deliver innovation. Results-focused, with a thorough understanding of business strategy and growth marketing, Jake has a natural ability to spot opportunities and create the optimum environment for sales.
Highly analytical and strategic but also creative and hands-on by nature, Jake is known for his driven personality and visionary thinking. With a proven track record for delivering results and helping businesses exceed growth targets. Jake has worked for several fast-growing domestic and international companies, including Vail Corporation, Thredbo, Rydges, Rhino-Rack and Wine Selectors. Jake has worked across various industries, including hospitality, FMCG, automotive, eCommerce, retail and SaaS, helping him fine-tune his customer-first marketing skills and experience.
Jake has a Master's degree in Interactive Multimedia from the University of Technology, where he was anointed into the Golden Key Honour Society as recognition for his exceptional achievements. He also has a Bachelor's Degree in business and several diplomas and certificates from web design to work health & safety.
His proficiency in marketing is complemented by a wealth of experience in leadership and strategic planning. He is a true thought leader who thinks beyond tactical marketing solutions to drive innovation throughout the company allowing him to position the product, the brand, and the business as a whole.
Brad is the Chief Technology Officer at Plant Assessor, joining the team in 2021.
Brad is a technology industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in the field. Throughout his career, he has held various leadership positions, including 15 years in management roles and 5 years as an executive. He has a proven track record of success in driving innovation and delivering results, and is highly skilled in leading cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.
Brad is known for his ability to stay current with emerging technologies and trends, and has a strong reputation for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. He is a dynamic and proactive leader who is committed to driving business growth and driving positive change within organisations.
Aaron is a highly experienced sales and business professional who is Head of Customer Success here at Plant Assessor. Aaron prides himself on his people management and business management skills, leading him to many great accomplishments throughout his career. As Head of Customer Success, Aaron drives customer retention and growth through solution focused delivery to our customers.
Aaron has taken charge of the Success department at the SaaS company, managing one of our largest teams in the business and achieving common goals together. Previously, a three year stint as a National Account Development Specialist, across our customer segments in Dealer & Hire, Local Government, Civil & Engineering with a number of major successes, this projected Aaron into his current role. During this time, Aaron steered the ship for a major shift in our market strategies and this developed a consistent value proposition to customers. Onboarding a number of new staff members, Aaron shared his model for selling our products and enriching customer experience to achieve ultimate value from our product.
Previous careers in recruitment, sports administration, logistics and transport, landscaping and hospitality have developed a unique skill set for stakeholder management internally and externally. Previous stints as a sales and account manager, business owner & operator, landscaper and hospitality manager have allowed Aaron to thrive at Plant Assessor, with customer experience the focus and the company’s people are a high priority.
Aaron graduated from Newcastle University with his postgraduate Business Degree in 2022.
Scott is the National Sales Manager at Plant Assessor. Prior to his appointment to the National Sales Manager role in 2023, Scott worked as a National Account Development Specialist from 2021, where he utilised his strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with both existing Plant Assessor clients and potential customers.
His extensive sales experience, diligence and perseverance have seen Scott work across all customer portfolios at Plant Assessor, and meet budget every quarter since starting with the company. He was also honoured with the Creativity company values award in 2021, selected by his peers within a year of joining the business.
Scott has more than 15 years’ experience providing solution selling outcomes into enterprise organisations, SMEs, and government agencies, and has worked across a broad range of industries prior to joining Plant Assessor including construction, facilities services, recruitment and retail.
Scott holds a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Newcastle. This has developed his knowledge in the areas of marketing, organisational behaviour, accounting and financial management, and management information systems, and allowed him to become a well-rounded sales and managerial professional.
