Product updates and release information
This update allows site owners to simply specify a minimum assessment purpose when setting site requirements, and Plant Assessor will accept equivalent or superior assessment types.
If enabled, when supplying a machine to a site, a risk assessment purpose that is equivalent or superior to the purpose specified in the site requirements will be accepted.
There are risk assessment purposes that have exactly the same, or an even more detailed level of assessment than as others.
Previously, a machine owner may have had to complete another risk assessment – even if they had already completed an assessment of similar or better standard – because the risk assessment purpose was not the same as specified in the site requirements.
For example, a Plant in Use (PIU) risk assessment is identical to a Hire risk assessment. Previously, if a site owner listed a hire assessment as a site requirement, a PIU assessment would not be accepted.
With Assessment Equivalents, site owners can optionally specify the minimum level of risk assessment purpose that will be accepted.
To use Assessment Equivalents, simply edit the machine assessment document configuration for a site, and select the minimum appropriate assessment for the site requirements.
Plant Assessor will select the higher level assessments, and select those items as an ‘equivalent’ assessment – and mark them accordingly.
Once the equivalents have been selected, they will appear on the right, and be ticked in the list. Equivalents will also be listed under the selected assessment type on the right hand menu.
Site owners that specify risk assessments as a site requirement, and all machine owners that supply to sites with specific risk assessment requirements.
Does this cost extra for my site?
No - this is a completely free update.
Are there any additional costs associated with the assessments for this to work?
No - there are no additional costs.
I already have my sites configured. Do I have to make a change?
No. Whatever the current configuration on a site, it will stay the same. Changing configurations to use Assessment Equivalents is completely optional. It is however recommended to select the minimum assessment level for a site requirement, to ensure clarity.
Do I need to enable the equivalents?
Yes. There is no reverting to previous functionality once Assessment Equivalents have been configured.
