Plant Assessor has gained a new team member over the New Year. Get to know a little about him!
Nate Moore – Business Development Representative
Background: I was born in Sydney but grew up around the Maitland area. I’ve got 3 younger siblings, 2 brothers and 1 sister. My oldest sibling is just 2 years younger than me but there’s more than 10 years between me and the other two siblings. I have always been really into acting, and used to participate in the local theater a lot before the COVID pandemic.
Education: My high-schooling was split between Maitland Grossman and St Mary’s in Maitland. I qualified for a number of acting schools out of high school however I couldn’t afford them as there’s no HECS plan for those degrees. So, instead, I decided to follow my other passion in software design and computers and started an online Bachelor’s degree with La Trobe. However, I dropped it after a year because I just found that online study wasn’t for me.
Career: After I decided that uni wasn’t for me, I pushed to gain skills via my then-casual job at KFC, earning a promotion to full-time Shift Supervisor. I eventually became an Assistant Restaurant Manager with the sub-role of Restaurant Safety Coordinator, where I remained until last year.
Last job: In the past year, I decided to take what I had gained in the 3 years working as a manager full-time and decided to try my hand in a different industry where I could bring back some of those skills I learned in acting. I also wanted to find something that would be a bit more fulfilling and help me build a better lifestyle beyond just working around shift work, so I did a brief period in B2B field sales at NCH before moving to Plant Assessor.
Outside work: As far as hobbies go, I’ve always been big on computer games and a bit of a movie and TV geek. Lately I’ve been challenging myself to try and read a book a month, which has been a pretty fun exercise. I’ll often try to sneak out to the park when the weather is good and do my reading out in the open to get me out of the house. I also try to do a big op-shop run with some of my friends from high school once every month or so as I love window shopping and seeing what is there. I've got some of my favourite clothes and furniture that I own this way.
