Top 10 most assessed machines in Plant Assessor for 2023

We had a busy year in 2023, and so did our valued customers!

A total of 67,891 risk assessments were carried out on a variety of machines across the year. But which machine types were the most assessed? We countdown the top 10 in this article.

 

10. Dump truck - articulated

A total of 1,151 risk assessments were carried out on articulated dump trucks in 2023. Among the most assessed models of this machine type were the Caterpillar 730, the Komatsu HM-400-5 and the Caterpillar 745 which had 123 assessments completed.

 

9. Lift truck - self propelled

Self propelled lift trucks, or forklifts, came in at number 9 on the list for 2023. There were only slightly more risk assessments conducted on the self propelled lift trucks compared with the dump trucks, at 1,192. Caterpillar, Kalmar and Toyota were among the most popular makes assessed.

 

8. Lawn mower - front deck/zero turn

Moving up the list we have front deck or zero turn lawn mowers. In 2023 a total of 1,254 risk assessments were carried out on this machine type, mostly among Kubota F3690 and John Deere 1585 TerrainCut.

 

7. Tractor - rigid

Coming in at number 7 is the tractor - rigid with 1,295 risk assessments completed in 2023. We had a wide range of rigid tractors assessed using Plant Assessor through the year, but the most popular included the John Deere 6110M and the Kubota M100 GX.

 

6. Graders

In sixth place is graders with 1,327 risk assessments completed across the year. Caterpillars were the most assessed graders for 2023, with the 12M, 150 and 140 all making the list.

 

5. Telescopic handlers

1,368 risk assessments were carried out on telescopic handlers in 2023. JCB was the most popular make of telescopic handlers assessed, with the 541-70, 535-95 and the 525-60 HI VIZ Loadall coming in in the top 3.

 

4. Wheel loaders

2,495 machinery risk assessments were conducted on wheel loaders in Plant Assessor in 2023, making it the fourth most assessed for the year. Popular models included the Volvo L120F, Volvo L120H and the Caterpillar 938K.

 

3. Tippers

Tippers were the next most assessed machine type in Plant Assessor for 2023. There were a total of 2,835 risk assessments completed across models including the Isuzu NPR 300 4x2. Isuzu NPR 200 4x2 and the Mitsubishi Canter 4x2.

 

2. Skidsteer loaders

Coming in second place is skidsteer loaders, with a total of 3,112 risk assessments conducted on this machine type. This number is across both tracked and wheeled skidsteers, with the tracked and seated Caterpillar 259D3 being the most popular.

 

1. Excavators

Excavators were by far the most assessed machines in Plant Assessor for 2023. 12,202 risk assessments were completed between small, medium and large excavators, with small excavators the most popular at 6,551 assessments. The most assessed make and model of excavator for 2023 was the Hitachi ZX55U-5A.
